How Does This Age Calculator Work?
The calculator uses the Gregorian calendar, which is the most widely accepted calendar system across the world. Your age is calculated by counting the time from your birth date up to the current date.
Years → count of complete birthdays you have celebrated.
Months → the number of months since your last birthday.
Days → the remaining days after counting full months.
For example, if you were born on March 10, 2000, and today is August 25, 2025:
You are 25 years, 5 months, and 15 days old.
Different Age Systems Around the World
Western / Common Age System
The most common system used in countries like the USA, UK, Pakistan, India, and Europe.
Your age increases on your birthday every year.
Example: If someone is 19 years and 11 months old, their official age is still 19, and it will become 20 on their next birthday.
East Asian / Traditional Systems
In some cultures, age is calculated differently.
Example: In the traditional Chinese system, a baby is considered 1 year old at birth, and the age increases not on their birthday, but at the Chinese New Year.
So, if a baby is born one day before New Year, after two days, the baby may already be considered 2 years old, even though they are only a few days old.
Special Cases in Age Calculation
Sometimes, age calculations can be confusing due to the different number of days in months. For example:
From Feb 20 to Mar 20 → exactly 1 month.
But from Feb 28, 2022 to Mar 31, 2022:
If we count Feb 28 to Mar 28 as a month → result = 1 month and 3 days.
If we treat both Feb 28 and Mar 31 as the end of the month → result = 1 month.
This happens because months don’t all have the same number of days (28, 29, 30, or 31). Our calculator uses the first method (day-to-day) to keep results more consistent.
